"i only speak liquid" #14: Adding AR to Shopify 🤯
Written by Tony Gonzalez 🚴
Hey all 👋!
Welcome to 'i_only_speak_liquid' by Storetasker, where active Shopify developers like me (Tony) share learnings we face daily. This is my 2nd edition of 4 before we rotate out to another developer. Hope you enjoy it!

What I’ve been thinking about:
I’ve been thinking a lot about the future of e-commerce. I’m sure e-commerce is going omnichannel entirely, and Augmented Reality will be vital for this.
Virtual Reality will be a hit, too, but people will adopt it at a slower pace.
To share my excitement with you all, I published an entire step by step tutorial to show you how to create a product slider with virtual reality and augmented reality capabilities.
Here it is, hope you enjoy it!!
3 links you can’t miss:
Model Viewer Docs - Explore the documentation for the model-viewer tag. It’s created and maintained by google; you could easily find out you can make amazing things for VR and AR.
PostCSS - This is great for transforming your modern CSS into a CSS compatible with virtually any browser in the market; it helps you with CSS names and avoids errors in your CSS.
Codux - The first visual IDE for React, by the people behind Wix, that can be integrated with Polaris to create amazing Shopify app interfaces.
One app I like:
Klaviyo Email & SMS by Klaviyo
This app doesn’t require an introduction. However, you are missing it big time if you are using email/SMS marketing in a Shopify store and not using this app.
This app is straightforward to use, integrates seamlessly with Shopify, and offers a wide variety of cool features.
Want to create beautiful email newsletters, automated emails, and targeted campaigns? Klaviyo got you covered.
Klaviyo has excellent extra features too like A/B testing, segmentation, and dynamic content.
One learning as a freelancer:
A sharp brain is critical as a freelancer. People are renting your brain by the hour/project. The sharper your mind is, the more productive you are. High productivity with solid sales/marketing skills means higher income in the long term.
The three pillars of a sharp mind are exercise, diet, and sleep. I exercise daily for at least 15 minutes, mainly doing HIIT routines and some bodyweight exercises. In addition, I stick to a keto diet with high-quality protein and sleep at least 7 hours in a comfortable and completely dark environment.
Those are the bases for 80% of your brain sharpness. For the 20% left, there are too many options out there:
A high-quality smartwatch to keep track of your sleep, stress, etc
Meditation is a great way to overcome stress and anxiety.
Sunlight regulates sleep and helps with stress and anxiety.
Foci is a productivity tool that allows monitoring of your emotions while you work and help you overcome negative emotions like stress and anxiety.
Modafinil is a smart pill top-rated in silicon valley as a cognitive booster and fatigue mitigator.
Some diet supplements, like beer yeast, vitamin B complex, vitamin D, etc., keep your mind in its best state.
